What does it sound like to be on a sailing yacht at sea? To answer this question I embarked on a week-long sailing expedition around the South West of the United Kingdom.

Sailing brings together a few themes I've always been fascinated with. There's the aspect of adventure and unplanned situations that you find yourself in at sea. Working together and camaraderie is of utmost importance when sailing. Sustainability is of course integral to traveling by means of wind. Lastly but most importantly, this offered me access to a sonic environment that is difficult to reach and fascinating to experience.

Being surrounded by water, sprayed, splashed and hit by it, lulled and thrown around by wind, immersed into a wild and unforgiving environment was an exhilarating experience. I hope that by listening to these recordings you can feel at least a small percentage of that.
